My Long National Nightmare of …

…of sleeping in late and putzing around without a care or much of a schedule is abruptly coming to a close. On Friday I was offered, and I accepted, an IT position with a local institution of higher learning. I start on Monday. In a cruel twist of irony I was also informed that I was going to be offered a job at Toyoda Gosei which I interviewed for on Tues. I will be turning this offer down because frankly the pay they are offering is not all that great, the hours are long and the benefits are mediocre.

Yep when it rains it pours folks. I would like to thank all of the people who helped either directly or indirectly though the power of their cosmic positive waves drifting up into the either and charging the capacitor of good fortune and shepherding me though this tumultuous era in my relocation odyssey.

And to all those people who thought I was “daft to build a castle in the swamp“, … er … move to Michigan with it’s 7.5% unemployment rate … enjoy the shit-burger!

I’m sure we will be resuming our schedule of sophisticated and urbane post on the seminal issues of the day, so be on the lookout.

Been a Long Time … Been A Long Time …

No I’m not being lazy, still in the heat of a job search. Things have been looking up, three interviews this week and a few more irons in the fire if those don’t pan out. Contrary to popular belief there are jobs in Michigan to be had, the problem is finding them before HR gets killed in an avalanche of resumes.

In the meantime if you want to take a look at a wickedly funny sketch on the economic and political history of oil, take a look at this, it runs about 45 minutes and it will have you laughing out loud as it carves up sacred cows, roasts them and slathers on a tangy BBQ sauce.
